Founded in 2001, the Sarasota Area Sports Authority (SASA), is a 501 c 3, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide community outreach and awareness of sports programs and events in the Sarasota area, including offering scholarships and college tuition grants to qualified high school athletes.

 

SASA works closely with community leaders, government agencies and local businesses to assist in building awareness of Sarasota as a community committed to furthering sports programs both locally and regionally.

Yes for Baseball in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla., Aug. 8, 2007… SASA today awarded five area high school seniors each with $1,000 college tuition grants toward their advanced education as part of SASA’s new grant program to assist students with special financial needs. The breakfast awards ceremony was hosted at the Sarasota Cay Club in Sarasota.

SASA 2007 Grant Recipients

The 2007 recipients were selected from more than 45 applicants based on financial need and personal circumstances as well as their demonstrated academic, community and sports commitment. This year’s

SASA grant recipients include:

• Ryan Marshall Barnes, Lakewood Ranch High School, Lakewood Ranch
